My Only Fear

I don't write very often, but I just felt like sharing the ones I've written recently. Feel free to post your own in here too.
Snow begins to fall
As you feel the brisk wind
Against your bare face
You want to remain outside
But the weather's too harsh
So you run into the warmth
And strip off your clothes
You sit silently by the window
Watching the grass fade away
The weather taunts you
As you sit cozy indoors
Will things ever return to the way they were
Where the sun shines all day
Where laughter is heard everywhere
Where you can lay in the grass
And be happy forever
The only way to find out
Is to question nothing
All you can do is believe;
We all leave our footprints in the snow
Only to watch them get blown away by the wind
So does it matter where you've been?
Or all the things that you've done?
Or is the thing most important
The thing you can't have?
The sun now comes around
And as you grip the door
You question just what you should do
Will the outside be what you hope for
Or should you stay where it's safe?
You already know the answer
It's in the back of your mind
So before it's too late,
Before it's all gone
You want to let go,
But you’ll always hold on.

The night is filled with eerie sounds
A creepy chill crawls up my spine
The lights go out
And all is dark
I blindly reach out for anything to grab hold of
But I feel nothing
And so I begin to plummet
Into the depths of darkness
Where there is no sign of light
No feeling of hope
All I have left now are my memories
Of what a world filled with light was like
So I continue to fall
Forever into darkness
Until I can find something to hold on to…

I watched the sun rise
As I sat upon the highest tree top
Everything was filled with beauty
And then the branch broke
I fell towards the ground fast
When the pain had seceded
I reopened my eyes
The world was now filled with darkness
And my heart and everything within it
Had vanished with the sunlight
So I sat there alone
In the cold and the dark
With nothing left
Not even the beating of a heart
I saw nothing
I heard nothing
And most painfully, I felt nothing
Will the sun ever rise again?
And when it does, will I ever return to the top of the tree
Or will I never sprout wings
And see the world for the beauty it once held
Only time knows the answer
But I never knew it could be so cold

I lay upon my back
In the grass of an open meadow
Gazing into the night time sky
All of the stars are alike
Except for one single star
This is the most magnificent star
It shines brighter than the sun itself
Crafted by the hands of perfection
It peers deep within me
Deep into my soul
Deep into the essence of who I am
It brightens my darkest moments
And my happiest too
The world could wither around me
Yet I would not notice
For this star has won me over
The day this star ceases to shine
Is the day my heart stops
Until the moment I touch it
I’ll sit and gaze from afar
At this beautiful and magnificent star
