ok so back in january i was at this gig w/ my friends whom were playing(w/ other bands) they were plaing a 2 song set: covers (note to self-fftl,and it was you-12 stones) and their lead vocals never showed, so they had heard me sing before and asked me to replace him for the night since i knew the lyrics 2 both songs, so i did, and i had alot of fun, and put on a good show(thx to previous experience with my old band PARADOX), so just the other day, i got an offer from them, the want me to be their new frontman, which i wouldent have a problem with except for the fact that their singer now is a really good friend of mine(he does not know they want to replace him w/ me.
anyway im not sure what will happen if i say yes, like. idk if things w/ me n him would change, he's been one of my best friends for a longgg time now, but u know even if i do take his spot, i wanna stay chill with him, but hey if he hates me for it, so be it right?? i dnt know what i shud do, any suggestions

talk to him about it.
it's really a tough situation. i mean the band would be fun, but is it really worth possibly losing a good good friend?

i think you should say no
friendship is always better than bussiness

Wow, this is one of those unrealistic "how could this possibly happen situation." I don't know, maybe the friend would understand, but I know it's not that simple. Ouch, it hurts my head just thinking about it.

i wouldnt use my advice
Just ask your friend if he's ok with it, and if he is, go for it. but if he's not like blinkfan said friendship is more important then bussiness

here's a plan i was thinking of.
go to the band and be like hey. tell my friend that you guys are looking for a new singer, that they want a new fresh voice.
then act like you didn't know when he tells you, be there for him.
after have the band call you up and ask you to join. tell your friend about it and be like i wont if you don't want me too.
the band might get fucked over though if he reacts negatively
Just talk to your friend about it and see how he feels. If it was the other way around they wanted to replace you with your good friend, you'd probably want him to at least check with you first. Its the decent thing to do.

Don't do it. Even if he says it's ok, he'll just say that because you're his friend. No one likes to be kicked out of a band.

Yeah like serg says, even if he says yes, that normmaly means the opposite. Nothing hurts more then getting kicked outa a band because it means one of 2 things. You suck at whatever you do, or you REALLY suck at what ever you do. I was in the same situation because my friends drumemr never showed up for practise so i just went instead. They wanted me as there perminant drumemr but i said no because i knew that being a drummer in this band ment everything to jack. So yeah id say no. Even if he says hes okay with it.

Plus, if you can actually sing just try out for a BETTER band. There's so many awesome musicians stuck with shitty bands.

A line from a song, Better way
"There's more to life than being in a band,
Your friends are what will matter in the end."
